In 2013, Ortech was happy to once again pair up with ARM Architecture to provide an acoustic ceiling system to the redevelopment of Geelong Library and Heritage Centre. Having successfully worked together on ARM’s Perth Arena, The Geelong Library featured another uniquely stunning design which in turn presented new challenges.
Ortech Durra Panel was combined with Durra Steel Sections to form a high performance acoustic envelope throughout the 9-storey dome roof design. Durra Panel Soundsorb finish was specified for internal reverberation control and insulation from the helicopter flight path above.
The new library is expected to reach one million visits per annum within five years of operation and is a striking addition to its neighbouring facilities, including Geelong Gallery, Geelong Performing Arts Centre and Johnstone Park.
