|Project||Northern Waters Treatment Plant|
|Size||5,000 sq m|
Laing O’Rourke’s Northern Water Treatment Plant is an advanced water treatment facility located near Wandoan in far north Queensland. The plant has capacity to purify 100 million litres of water per day and in 2016, won Industrial Water Project of the Year.
Construction of the main process building was on a critical path time line and site safety an imperative considering the 16m high roof and walls. Durra Acoustic Panel, Durra Steel Sections and metal cladding were assembled on ground into large 9 x 16M modules and then crane hoisted into position using the Durra Lifting Frame.
The resultant installation method saw a dramatic improvement in productivity and risk reduction given the 5000m2 building envelope including acoustic linings was completed in less than three weeks.
Northern Waters Treatment Plant remains a significant milestone achievement for Durra Panelised Building Systems as well as demonstrating Ortech’s experience alongside other industrial projects such as:
- Wonthaggi Desalination Project
- Adelaide Desalination Plant
- Narrabri Rotary Breaker
- Wolleebee Creek, Preston and Bakers Creek Pump Stations
